Dirt And The Farm Wife

Most of humanity can see Spring coming by the grass waking up--the daffodils and tulips begin to bloom.  Fresh warm breezes blowing gently...ah, the sweet sounds and smells of Spring.

Not the farm wife.  We first notice that Spring has arrived in our laundry rooms.

I have yet to find an appliance commercial that uses a farmers apparel to advertise how effectively their machines work.  We don't deal with just any old, suburbian, normal type dirt.  We get the joy of dealing with the nasty stuff like grease and manure. Getting ready to plant or harvest our fields, caring for animals and maintaining machinery requires a bit of wrenching and lot of hard work.  Yeah, American farmers feed the nation, but it does a number on the home appliances.

Here is my arsenal to battle the  "Spring Fling On The Farm".  It is a futile attempt at best. I haven't found the perfect cleaner that can erase the dirt, grease and grime. Got ideas?

I can't ever get the clothes as clean as they need to be.  That's ok.  Because, typically the next day you will never be able to notice, by looking or smelling, that they were sparkling clean just 12 hours ago.  Same goes for the people that wear those clothes...sigh.

Some dirt sticks to clothes.  That's the dirt we deal with as farm wives.  Other kinds of dirt stick to our hearts.  That's the dirt we deal with as human beings.  One requires some laundry time and the other requires some Jesus time.

What do you do when the heart dirt seems to stick?  We take it to The Only One who can wash us perfectly.  Here are 5 Scriptures to help you remember that Jesus Christ is able to cleanse you from anything. Every spot. Every stain. Made like new! For how long?? Now and forever...because He says He so.

"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."  1 John 1:9

"Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me."  Psalm 51:10

"He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit."  Titus 3:5

"Let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water."  Hebrews 10:22

"You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you."         John 15:3

God's word always gives me a new perspective.  Today He chose to speak through my pile of dirty laundry. What is God speaking over you today?
