Doing A Spiritual Face Plant

I was reminded the other day of how faithless I truly am.  Have you ever done a Spiritual face-plant?  I had told God that I would fast for "X" amount of days from all media in order to get some much needed direction from Him.  I did really well for the first few days, and I got into a surprisingly good groove.  But, as a few more days went by, I began to slip into "just a few minutes" here and there.  You know, it didn't hurt anything!  By the end of a week I was diving right back into the media maze.  Apparently, God didn't forget what I asked of Him, because He shut off the internet to our home for over 1 week.  Completely.  In fact, not even our cell phones could connect to Wifi and since we don't have unlimited data ... yeah.  So, there.  With the blue circle of death spinning, and my mouse in hand, He got my undivided attention. My spiritual face-plant story, number 7,923 and counting. Have you ever had a spiritual face plant?

Surviving a spiritual face plant

He is ever FAITHFUL even when I am not. That is my God and I am forever thankful that He graciously picks me up from every spiritual face-plant, brushes off the dust, and sets me back on the right path. This was just a minor situation. Maybe you have had some major falls. I know I have, and I will save those for another post. God has a way of taking his wandering sheep and bringing them back into the fold. Sometimes he uses a velvet covered brick wall.

I recently came across these questions, and it stopped me in my tracks.

What if, God decided to stop leading me tomorrow because I didn't follow Him today?

What if, God couldn't take the time to bless me today because I couldn't take the time to thank Him yesterday?

What if, I never saw another flower bloom because I grumbled when God sent the rain?

What if, God didn't walk with me today because I failed to recognize it as His day?

What if, God took away His message because I failed to listen to the messenger?

What if, God didn't send His only begotten Son and I had to pay for my sin?

What if, the door of the church was closed because I didn't open the door of my heart?

What if , God stopped loving and caring for me because I failed to love and care for others?

What if, God would not hear me today because I would not listen to Him?

What if, God answered my prayers the way I answer His call to service?

What if, God met our needs the way we give Him our lives?

Yeah, I choked on this list, too.  I am wretched, vile, base, defiled...and yet I am loved with a perfect love because of the precious blood of Jesus. AMAZING GRACE. Grace made available for every spiritual face-plant no matter how major or minor. He calls us back into the sheep pen because He doesn’t want his children playing with wolves. I am so glad He doesn’t base His grace on my ability to be graceful. Face plants are just what we do and He provided the remedy.

OUR GOD IS FAITHFUL.

"For the LORD is good;  His lovingkindness is everlasting and His faithfulness to all generations."   Psalm 100:5

Let's praise our never ending, ever faithful God who picks us up, dusts us off and gives us the strength to keep going.
